
Brief Bio:
From the beginning of her life, Theresa has had many challenges. Having been born without hands and without legs below the knees, Theresa lives life to the fullest despite her disabilities. Doctors believe Theresa's disability was caused by the drug Thalidomide. Wearing prosthetic legs since she was three years old, Theresa gets around very well and independently. She faces her life with faith in the Lord Jesus, humor, creativity, optimism, a sense of adventure, and a "CAN DO" attitude. Theresa accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at the age of 11.
Theresa's faith in Jesus Christ at a young age also helped her through a lot of difficult situations, not the least was her father's alcoholism and violent temper. Her father later died when Theresa was 15 years old. Theresa has four brothers and two sisters; she is second eldest.
Being shy as a young girl, Theresa was told by a psychologist that she may not be confident enough to work, let alone speak, with the public. She has surprised everyone, and more. Among other things, Theresa enjoys water sports such as swimming and boating. She lived and worked in the San Francisco Bay Area for many years. When she and her husband lived in Minnesota for a time, Theresa worked as a substitute teacher in Minnesota public schools. She was in Toastmasters where she earned her Competent Toastmasters certificate.
Theresa is a contributing author to the book, Refined by Fire: Defining Moments of Phenomenal Women, produced by GMA Publishing. She has self published her first book, Along Life's Path: Inspirational Poems, Songs, and Stories, produced by iUniverse Publishing.
Theresa was born and raised in California. She has her Bachelors degree in Human Relations from Golden Gate University.
Theresa was married and; sadly, her husband passed away in 2008.
Theresa currently lives on the central coast of California with her dog.
